Yew

Welcome to Year 6!

We are Yew class and we are the oldest children in the school.  We're excited to be taking on new learning challenges as well as responsibilities around the school.

Our teachers are Mrs Atkins and Mrs Bujniewicz.  We also lucky enough to have Mrs Pearson, Mrs Gear and Mr Bottomley to help us learn.

Our playtime is 10.30 until 10.45 and our lunch is 11.45 until 12.45 for the moment.

Our PE day is Friday - so we come to school in our PE kit that day.

We have music with Mr Adams from Castle school on a Wednesday.

Our Outdoor education on a Friday afternoon from Friday11th  March until the Easter break.

Remember to bring in wellies and waterproof trousers in a bag.  You might also want to bring some extra layers.

Homework

Each week we have spellings to practise on Spelling Shed. These will run from Friday to Friday and our test will be on a Friday.

We read every day - aiming for 20  minutes as a minimum.

Homework tasks will be set on a Friday and all tasks will be need to be handed in for marking on a Friday morning please.

Each week you will be set

English - either punctuation or grammar  practise

Reading - there will be a reading comprehension set each week

Maths - activities that consolidate what will be done in class lessons

To support the maths homework, My Maths will be available.  NO activities will be set on this but you can log  in and access the lessons and further practise of any work that is set.

We also expect that times tables knowledge is secure by Year 6.  TTRockstars is an excellent way to practise and keep your tables in tip-top shape!
