Today is spelling day so ask a grown up to test you on the -le ending words we have been practicing this week. Below are our new spellings, we are looking at the -ly ending this week. This always appears at the end of words and is a prefix we regularly add in our writing. Have a look at the words below, they are on spelling shed for you to practice too.
We are sentence stacking again today. Thinking about our choice of words and how we can use our vocabulary to make careful choices about what we write to have the biggest impact on the reader. We have written our hook, heading, introduction and our first special information paragraph so far (either at home or in school). Today and tomorrow we are going to be writing another two special paragraphs about what makes out pangolin friend so interesting.
On the sheet below you will find a few boxes to fill with words (we have given some to get you started) and underneath that my 'boring' sentence that you can do much better than. I have put the words you can change in red.
Today we are moving on to perimeter. Perimeter is to do with length as it is the measurement around the outside of a shape. The perimeter can only be found on 2D (flat) shapes. Shapes like squares, triangles and rectangles are all 2D shapes. The perimeter of these is when you add the length of all the sides together.
So to work out the perimeter of the blue square above we would need to do:
7cm + 7cm + 7cm + 7cm = 28 cm
There are some questions on the document below for you to have a go at.
If you feel up to it, how about keeping active and trying a few of these challenges over the next few days. We made this during lockdown last time - so some of these you wont be able to do but how many can you complete.
Start off with some reading today. I have found an extract (a little section of) a really interesting non-fiction book on birds. Find it below, enjoy all of it but there are questions here about page 5 of the section - titled What Do Birds Do All Year?
Questions:
How many eggs does a robin lay?
Where do the swallows travel from each spring?
What do blackbird chicks feed on?
How long do blue tits sit on their eggs?
What do all the birds have in common in each season?
Why do swallows travel to Africa in the winter?
Why is winter a good time to see water birds?

There are a couple if challenges for you to have a go at. If you are confused, have a little look at the example I did for the maths section yesterday. Today's science carries on from last week. We were looking at the bones of the human body.
Rocket recall time - can you name 3 bones in the human body and point to where they are - why not challenge someone else at home to do the same.
Today we are going continue looking at the human body and its bones - concentrating on what their job is. So firstly what do you think the job of bones are? There are two main jobs.
Using the link to the BBC website, here. Use the page to watch the video and have a go at the activity below the writing. Can you copy out the paragraphs - filling in the missing words. There is also a quiz for you to have a go at the bottom.
We have a challenge for you today when thinking about perimeter. Below there are two questions to think about - the first asks you to work backward - you know the perimeter but can you work out how long the sides could be.
The question below has 5 different answers can you find them all?
Today we have a little spelling task for you. Below is Jacob's homework - he has spelt some of this weeks spellings wrong within it. Can you find them and correct them for him.

We are continuing our look at animations this half term - we will be using an app called iMotion for the first time today. If you have access to this why not try and make your own flip book like we did in school but with photographs instead of drawings. Remember only small movements between each photo.
Today we are thinking about our rights and responsibilities in helping the world around us. We have talked a lot about climate change and how we can do our bit. In class we are going to be thinking about how we can alter our behaviour to make a small but important difference. Can you do the same? Maybe do it for home as well. Below are some ideas. When you have decided can you make a poster of a leaflet to remind you and persuade others around you to do the same.

Today is our last day on perimeter, so we have go a couple of questions for you that cover everything we have learnt. There are 5 questions, 1-4 are things we have done together and number 5 is a really tricky one - so have a go - remember the perimeter is every side around the outside of a shape.
Today in DT we are going to be making mother's day cards, so maybe you could secretly make one for your mum too.
Why do we celebrate mother's day?
Mother's Day started as a celebration of mothers and can be traced found in Ancient Greece and Roman times, who held festivals in honour of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele, but the modern Mother’s Day is an early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.”
A tradition in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe, which is on the fourth Sunday in Lent (before Easter) and was seen as a time when the sons and daughters would return to their “mother church”—the main church near the place where they were born —for a special service and to see their families.
Mother's Day is this Sunday so we best make sure we have a card.
Below are some ideas of some you can make, draw and paint or if you want a real challenge try this pop up one here.
We are sentence stacking for the last time today. Thinking about our choice of words and how we can use our vocabulary to make careful choices about what we write to have the biggest impact on the reader. Over the last two weeks we have written our entire non-chronological report. Today we are going to be writing our glossary, because we have made sure to sound like an expert we are going to have to explain to the reader what some of our clever vocabulary is going to be.
In the writing below you will find a few words that I have used in my report - you might have chosen different ones, so have read back through your report and pick out the words that you think are in expert language and explain them to the reader.
Exoskeleton - bones or shell on the outside of the animal - eg a crab.
Endoskeleton - an animal with the bones or shell inside the body - eg a human.
Other words you might have used could be;
Predator
Vertebrate
Mammal
Invertebrate
Your glossary will probably include 4 or 5 words in it - use a dictionary to help with the definitions.
Friday is always multiplication day so get yourself on to ttrockstars and have a practice on the times tables you are currently working on.
Once you have done that have a go at the sheet below. We are going to be moving on to fractions next week - looking careful at how they are made up of equal parts. First though we want to see what you remember from last year. So have a go at the questions below and then send us a picture of how you got on.
Today in RE we are continuing our look at the Easter story and how other people might have felt in the run up to Jesus' salvation through resurrection.
Last week we thought about Mary and how she, as Jesus' mother will have felt during the week. Below is an emotion chart to help you think about how she felt at different points.
Your task today is to think about how others might have felt during the week. Below are a list of people who feature in the story of Holy week - how might they have felt on Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday?
The disciples
Peter, who denied Jesus
The judge who sentenced Jesus
Judas, who betrayed Jesus
The Roman guards
Can you think how they might have felt.
