Welcome to Year 3

 Oak Class

We are the pupils of Oak Class.

Our teachers are Mrs Wedlake who is also the Deputy Head Teacher and maths leader for the school, and Mrs Holmes.

Our teaching assistant is Mrs Miller.

Our Topic this term is Dragons which ties in with our English text and is based on a Polish folk tale.

Have you been around Taunton on the Dragon trail yet?

We will post some photo's of us working hard and enjoying ourselves, so don't forget to visit our web-page again soon!  smiley

Homework in Oak class

The children will normally get some spellings to learn or practise and

There may be occasions when there is a story to retell or some topic work to do/research.

Why is Communication so Important?

Here is our weekly timetable.

Parent Meeting 16th September 2014: It was lovely seeing so many parents this evening but I appreciate not everyone could be there. Here is an expanded version of the presentation I showed and discussed.

Each term we issue an overview of the curriculum during the term. This gives parents/carers the opportunity to talk about these topics at home with their child to increase awareness and understanding of a subject

Our visit to the Quartz Festival at Queens College.

No Pens Day.....but still the work continues....

This morning we travelled around the world and were captivated by the tales told by 'Spellbinder.'

We really enjoyed the drumming session with Organic Rhythm.

We have been busy being editors and authors in Year 3 and are really pleased with our finished stories.

Christmas Carol concert

Acting out the Pied Piper of Hamelin and having lots of fun!

We had a fantastic visit to the Museum of Somerset for a stone age dig. We also made clay pots - which we can bring home at the end of the week - and we also saw the magnificent Alfred Jewel.

World Book Day 2015 ....

We all had a wonderful day in Bristol at the @Bristol Science Museum, such a wonderful class to take on a school trip!

Pentecost at the Church.... a wonderful experience

The Athletics Festival at Castle school... we have some future sporting heroes in Oak Class!

Oak class INCITE afternoon.

During our INCITE afternoon we continued to use the skills we had learned in class when using chalk pastels, but this time we created masterpieces together with our parents, grandparents and friends. We looked at Tony Hudson's work of images of Africa and used these as a stimulus for our work. The results were amazing and will be displayed in the hall. We have such talented children, parents, grandparents and friends! Thank you all for coming along and sharing some quality time with your child. They loved having you join us and learned so much from you also whilst working alongside you, watching your techniques and skills.

Reading for pleasure

Rowan class visited Oak class this afternoon and shared their wonderful stories that they had written. The children loved hearing the huge variety of stories and thought that Rowan class were really talented. One of the children said, " They write as a reader and they also put in such wonderful expression when reading to us!"

It was a lovely afternoon sharing such talent...
