LQ: How do I subtract by counting back? (not crossing 10)

Today we are going to use number tracks and number lines to subtract a 1-digit number from a 2-digit number. Remember, you could put your subtraction number sentence into a part-whole model too! 

Year 2 

 

Today is our last lesson on money. 

 

We will be using our addition and subtraction skills to solve two-step problems. 

 

You can use bar models and part-whole models to help you. You might also want to use coins or any resources you have at home.

Teach: LQ: What is a noun?

 For most nouns we simply add s.

LQ: What do we add to nouns ending in ‑s, ss, ‑sh, ‑ch, ‑x, or -z? We add –es. 

Key words

noun, singular, plural. suffix

Rule: if the word ends in ‑s, ss, ‑sh, ‑ch, ‑x, or -z, add -es
