Eco-Team

Welcome to the Eco-Team web-page.

We are all children with a shared interest in looking after the environment.

Our Eco-Team Leaders for 2022/2023 are Lochlan, Tilly, Lanie and Sophia and our Eco Team members are: Jacob, Olivia, Sennen, Allegra,Sonny, Caleb, Elsie, Seb, Rufus and Emily.

.

The role for the team is to:

  1. Help develop the new field to encourage wildlife and an enjoyment of the outside world.
  2. Encourage recycling in the school.
  3. Ensure the school site is well looked after and litter is cleared.
  4. Think of ways to reduce the energy/electricity we use in school.

Eco-Team Goals

Waste Free Friday

The Eco-team wanted to reduce the amount of single use plastic in the lunch boxes brought to school. Karen from Carymoor Environmental Trust, who led a school assembly and worked with Years 3 & 4, showed us what happened to non-recycled waste which ends up bing sent to a Landfill Site.

So the Eco-team decided to launch 'Waste Free Friday' to encourage families to think more carefully about the packaging on our food. A letter and information was sent out to families, and the Eco-team representatives spoke to their classes about our aims. Then on Friday, waste was collected and weighed to see how much packaging waste each class had left in their lunch boxes.

Please remember to think about the packaging on the food in your lunchbox. Can you make a better choice?

Eco-schools Award

We are currently working towards the new Eco-Schools Bronze Award. We are checking on the progress of 'Waste Free Friday', litter-picking around the school and being Eco-spies making sure classes are switching off lights and the IWBoards when they leave the room.
