Rowan

We are Year 4 pupils

and our class teachers are

Mrs Trump, Mrs Wilkins and Mrs Bujniewicz.

Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Andrews, and

Mrs Mitchell teaches us PE on Wednesdays.

Rowan Class have been busy learning about the growth of the Roman Empire, using maps of Europe to plot the changes over time. We have been in training as recruits to the Roman Army and are making shields. We are off to The Roman Baths in Bath for a tour and workshops. Then we will find out how the Romans changed life in Britain and what their legacy was.

We are  looking forward to a trip to watch a dance production at Queen's College, and we are also going to take part in a sports festival at Blackbrook Sports Centre.

Look at what we have investigated, designed and made for you at Christmas time. Chocolates!

Homework

In Rowan Class, most homework set will be in our learning logs. This will be set on a Friday, and collected in on the following Wednesday.  The homework could be English, Maths or Topic related.  Pupils will be required to show their current understanding of different areas we are studying.

We understand that children work exceptionally hard during the school day, and recommend spending around half an hour on any set piece. Obviously, if they are enthused and want to spend longer, that is fine.  If you have any questions or difficulties with homework set, then please come in and see us.

In addition to our learning logs, we would expect your child to regularly practise their times tables up to 12 x 12.

Spellings

Spellings will come home to learn on a Tuesday, and will be tested the following Monday after we have spent time focusing on them in class.

During the week we will be looking at spelling rules, the meanings of words and practising similar words.
