Daily Zoom

Don't forget we have got our hour-long session on Zoom today, between 12 and 1pm. We are going to be doing our maths on Zoom today, covering a new area and going through the questions and activities together. If you can join us for Zoom please do.

We will use the same password and meeting ID as usual.

Reading

Today, can you please read chapter 16 of War Horse and then have a go at answering these questions.

  1. Which smell did Joey get as he wandered in no man’s land?
  2. What did the soldiers wave as they cut through the wire for Joey?
  3. What did the German soldier feed to Joey?
  4. How did the two soldiers decide which one would take Joey with him?
  5. How did the two soldiers feel about the war?
  6. What did they expect to be doing again in an hour or two?
  7. How did the soldiers react as Joey was led towards them?

English

On Friday we looked at the paragraph on appearance for our non-chronological report on pandas and today we are going to have a go at two more sections: diet and habitat.

These, like your appearance paragraph, will include formal conjunctions, specific vocabulary and a range of punctuation to make us seem like an expert while also conveying all the facts we know about these elusive creatures.

As always, Miss Gardner is here to talk you through it; the first video is on how to plan your paragraphs and is definitely worth watching as it gives us the language and information we want to include. The second video is optional as it outlines the sentence structures you might want to include while also showing you a good example that you can magpie some ideas from.

Definitely watch the first video but if you need some ideas for language and a good example before you start then the second video is worth watching as well.

Maths

Today, feel free to join us on zoom as we will be going through the maths together. So if you want to save maths work until 12, then please do.

We are looking at finding percentages of amounts, the video from White Rose (here) is good but we will look at it in a slightly different way on the zoom call today which we hope will help. If you can't join us, don't worry, we will go over it together again and across the week.

Below is the activity for today, we will work through it on zoom, or have a go at it independently.

(60 minutes)

PE

As always, our friend Joe Wicks is on hand if you want to take your workout seriously. You can find a fancy dress Friday workout from last week or have a look at today's workout.

If you want to have a bit of competition then there are a few challenges below to have a go at on your own (making yourself better) or to play against others in the house. All come with an instruction sheet and a video to show you how it is played. Let us know which ones you like.

Golf Rolling

Kitchen Curling

Throw Tennis

(60 minutes)

If you have worked quickly today and you have zipped through our work and it is all of a good quality, then you can have a look at the In case you finish... section. This is full of ideas that you can do if your grown ups are busy still working or with them when they have finished.
