Rowan

Welcome to Year 4 - Rowan Class

We are the pupils of Rowan Class.

Our teachers are Mrs Wilkins, Mrs Trump and Miss Vale.

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Feltham and Mr Porter.

When we started in Rowan Class we learnt about the Incredible Egyptians, their pharaohs and pyramids, daily life and culture, about modern Egypt and the River Nile. We love to learn in lots of different ways, and enjoyed sculpture, clay modelling and cooking, as well as using computing and reading to find out information.

Building pyramids-solve the problems of building Zoser's step pyramid

Chocolate!!

This half term our topic will be linked by the theme of chocolate!  We will be doing experiments linked to solids and liquids, and finding out about teeth and how to care for them. The history of how the Europeans came to enjoy chocolate is fascinating, as is how fair trade can improve the lives of the farmers that grow the cacao beans today.
During the first half of the Spring Term, our topic will be The Romans. We will be focusing on the Roman invasion of Britain, what we learned from the Romans, their daily lives and Roman mosaics and architecture. We will be visiting the famous Roman Baths in the fourth week of our topic and we are also lucky enough to have been loaned some Roman artefacts by the museum service.

Our visit to the Roman Baths.

Here is a timetable so you'll know what we will be up to each day.

Parents' Meeting Powerpoint 1st October

Why is Communication so Important?

Multiplication Olympics

In Maths we compete in the Multiplication Olympics. We have 5 minutes to complete as many multiplication or division questions as we can at varying levels.

If you would like a copy of the level you are working on to practise, just download it using the links below.

Each term we issue an overview of the curriculum during the term. This gives parents/carers the opportunity to talk about these topics at home with their child to increase awareness and understanding of a subject

Our topic for the Summer Term will be Living Things and their Habitats. We will be looking at the basic needs a habitat supplies, why the classification of plants and animals is important, the construction of food chains and gain an understanding of how environments change.
