Elm

This week we have been looking at the architecture of Buckingham palace and Horse Guards. We built some palaces.

We investigated some of the spices used in Indian cooking and then tried some dahl. Some liked the dahl and some didn't!

We harvested our potatoes, weighed, cooked and ate them. We added herbs to add different flavours.

We are a mixed year group class of pupils

from Year 1 and Year 2.

Our class teachers are Mrs Wintrip and Mrs Holmes.

Our teaching assistants are Miss Guildford and Mrs Pearson.

During Roald Dahl day we have been inventing sweets for Mr Wonka.

We have been investigating how to make a total with two numbers.

We have been playing trust games in P.E. We had to communicate clearly, listen carefully and trust our partner.

We looked at the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and then created our own pictures with fruit and vegetables.

Year 2 Multiskills Morning

We went on a welly walk and looked for signs of Autumn.

We have been hunting for 2D shapes in our school.

We have learnt about the life and work of Florence Nightingale.

We worked together in small groups to make giant poppies for Remembrance Day.

The Year 2 children have been using the ipads to find information about animals.

We have looked at artefacts that are an important part of Christian worship.

In our Design Technology work this term we have designed a pattern for a Mother's Day gift, it is a surprise!

Today we learnt about the importance of the sea. We learnt how to look after the sea and sea-shore. We saw film of some of the amazing creatures who live in the sea. What a wonderful afternoon we had!

Angel Heart theatre company visited our school with their puppet show Malina's Dream. We loved it!

Today we went on a Welly Walk in our local area, looking for signs of spring. We found some lovely wild flowers.

Elm Class year 2's had great fun at Castle School this morning doing their multi-sports festival.

Our topic this half term is India. Mrs. Pal came to talk to us about life in India. We found this really interesting.

We have used magnifiers to look closely at a range of different flowers.

We looked at the work of sculptors who use flowers as their subject and then created our own 3D flower.
