Maths 

Please practise counting on and back in 2s, 5s, 10s (and 3s if you are Year 2).

This week, we are continuing with our topic of money. We will be looking at making amounts, comparing, finding the total/difference and finding change. 

 

Can you compare amounts of money? 

 

What is the same/different?

 

Remember the symbols we use to compare amounts smiley

 

<           When one value is smaller than another, we can use a less than sign.

>           When one value is bigger than another, we can use a greater than sign.

=           When two values are equal, we use the equals sign.

Maths Challenges 

If you would like to challenge yourself, there are some great money maths challenges below that involve using your reasoning and problem solving skills. You could answer one/two of these on paper or in your home learning exercise book yes

Read and practise writing  two of the Phase  5 C sentences on Phonics Play.

Recap: What is a verb? Can you put some of yesterday's words into the past tense

Key words: past tense, present tense, suffix, verb, rule

Today's verbs: bake, behave, chase, dance, use, close  

Recap: What happens to verbs that end in e? (bye bye e...add ed, bye bye  e...add ing)

Show an example. (Please note, we could also say, 'When the verb ends in e, just add d.)

The children will add ing and ed to the root words above. 

Write sentences in the past and present tense. 

Can they improve their work by using a conjunction in their sentence?  (so, but, beacuse, when, if)
